What is PRP?
PRP is a cosmetic procedure used to stimulate the growth of new elastin and collagen in your skin, while also being used to promote natural thickening and regrowth of hair. These results are achieved through using the patient’s own blood, due to the platelets in the blood being rich in growth factors and other proteins that are essential for tissue regeneration.
It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 sessions over a 6-8 month period, with a session booked every 6-8 weeks. Results are usually evidenced from 12 months onwards.
What is the PRP procedure?
- A clinician will draw your blood
- This blood is then centrifuged to isolate the platelets and plasma
- Local anaesthetic is applied to the face or scalp via cream or injection
- The treatment is then injected into the face or scalp
- The session will take up to an hour
- 24 hour down-time is expected
